Freedom isn’t Free …to those who pay the price.
To those families who have suffered loss so we can enjoy freedom …we say Thank You. We live in a country that allows us to pursue our dreams, to move about freely from state to state, to start a business and shut one down, to worship the god of choice, and to speak out when things are unfair. We are truly blessed. If we are not enjoying our freedom… then we slap the face of the one who died so we could.
Making a difference … It’s so easy to sit and complain when things don’t go the way you want. When you see what needs to be done and no one is doing it. You’ve got a vision of how things should be, but no one else seems to see what you see. It might not be getting done because you aren’t on the board. Make a difference… run for the Lake Ramsey Homeowner Board. (4 positions will be opening up) Send your name, where you live, and why you would like to be on the board to: Homeowners Association PO Box 1746 Covington, La. 70434 Due in August.

Hats off to the Beautifiers of Lake Ramsey… Wow!!! Ladies you are doing a wonderful job and everything looks great! I particularly love the new bulletin board. Thanks
for all you do to keep things spruced up, picked up and decorated up. It is greatly appreciated!!!
Taking a step up…Insanity…is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Make the decision to do something different and change your circumstance.
Homeowners Board Meeting …Always the 4th Thursday of the month at the Fire Station on LA 25 … July 28th at 7:00 pm. The meeting is open to all property owners. If you want to speak at the meeting, you must call a board member to be put on the agenda.
Civic Association Next Civic Association “Pot Luck”… July 21st. A volunteer is needed for the July Pot luck. If you would like to host the July Civic “Pot Luck” ….Call Kathy Zeringue at 898-3545
I would like to thank Pat and Ron Burrow for hosting the June Pot Luck dinner/meeting in their lovely home. The Luau theme and decorations make for a special evening. It was particularly pleasant to hold our formal part of the meeting out on the deck. This was the second month in a row that we held our meeting outside. Aren’t we lucky to be living in such a wonderful neighborhood? We were glad to see new neighbors: Dan and Linda Rowe, Joy Ross, and Harold and Kathy Cantelli.
As of this printing of the Newsletter we have not had a volunteer for the July 21st meeting. If someone does wish to host the pot- luck dinner/meeting the address will be posted on our lovely new bulletin board, right under our beautiful flagpole.
There are several parties on the horizon and the particulars will be formulated in the coming week and published in the August Newsletter. Also, keep checking the email list for info. Sandy Miller is proposing a “Party Barge Party” and Evelyn Bordelon is planning her “Oldies Party”.
Our neighborhood is not only growing by leaps and bounds but it is growing in the polished look of a well-loved community. And by all rights, a lot of neighbors have given their loving attention (sweat and a little blood now and then) to make Lake Ramsey a beautiful place to reside. If you have never participated in a community clean up, weeding, etc. please come out the next time you see a posting on the board or get an email for help. It won’t take much of your time you will feel ore a part of the community family and besides we all would like to meet you.
Thanks to the Homeowner’s board for providing the nice street signs (please note-20 mph), for getting the potholes fixed and for keeping the gate in working order. Jan Miller is doing an exceptional job as our Homeowner’s President. Have you personally thanked him for all of his efforts and time?
The August potluck meeting will be held on the 18th at the home of Carl and Rita Rebouche, 14301 Riverlake at 6:30. All residents and lot owners are welcome.
I wish everyone a safe and happy summer and let’s all pray that we are spared the misfortune of a hurricane.
Contractor’s Corner… With all of the building going on in Lake Ramsey, we need to keep in mind the Builder and Construction Regulations…so we all know who should be doing what. For those who are not computer savvy, I am including them in this newsletter attached to the back. (they are also on our web) click here
If something is going on that shouldn’t be…let Bill White, Charlie G. or your Phase Rep know. We need as many eyes and ears helping out so the job can get done. No one person can do it all. We all need each other to make things happen, and keep building in line with the regulations.
* If you need a complete copy of the covenants call Jan Clark …892-1265. or click here
What is an unrestricted lot? An unrestricted lot is one where the buyer was told that they did not have to comply with all of the covenants and restrictions given to the whole subdivision because they were exempt. You and I might ask …how can this be? Who in the world would divide a subdivision with this kind of exemption? It would be like having 4 children and only 2 of the 4 had house rules. The other 2 could do what they wanted without any restraint. (If you were raised in a family where something like this happened, you know that it does not produce harmony but division and resentment.) It is not fair or right in any way to have some with restrictions and some without.
When Intrepid Inc. planned this subdivision, there was Phase I, II, III, and its Phase I restrictions and covenants were implied for all. Phase IV was in the making but the Phase I covenants and restrictions were intended for all Phases. The question is …did the parties who filed the covenants for Phase II, III, and IV, have the legal right to do so…and are they valid?
***It has come to my attention… that dues are being paid by many of those who have unrestricted lots…more everyday are coming on board. I see a united community in our future.
One Gator still left…Call Wildlife and Fisheries (64162009 or 1-800-442-2511 ) If you hear splashing under your dock…check it out. Both alligators were living under docks on Lakeshore Dr. (facing Phase II). Hopefully there is only one left….but… when in doubt …check it out.
Homeowner dues… where do I send them? All homeowner dues should be sent to PO Box 1746…Covington, La 70434
Stickers… stickers are now available for all Lake Ramsey cars and boats . The stickers will be given out by Bill White. Please call before coming to pick up. All Home Owner dues must be paid in full.
Where do I put the Stickers?? The boat sticker should be placed on the Right (starboard) side of the boat. The car sticker should be placed above the brake tag. This will enable us to know if a resident is behind us when we come in on our card at the gate, and know which boats belong one our lake.
Where… do I get a gate card, the new boat launch key or information on building in Lake Ramsey, and the new stickers for our boats and cars… Bill White- C- 966-0817, H- 867-9153. Please Call before you come to pick up a key. :)* Just a reminder that a replacement boat launch key costs $100.00. Ouch! … So don’t Loose it or Lend it!!!!! **** The new boat launch keys are now available.
These little do and Don’ts will help us all be on the same page.
Do be a nice neighbor …help keep your neighbors lot clean and don’t throw your trash or park your cars, boats etc. on a neighbors’ property because it is vacant. Cleanup then becomes a difficult task for them.
Do not Ski or speed through the” No Wake Zone.” This is for your safety. Boats are to idle only….with as little wake as possible.
DO … check the water around your dock before diving in. The storms blow chairs etc. into the lake and it could cause injury.
Don’t …put up a fence or addition without getting it approved first.
DON’T PARK…. your car, truck, or trailer etc. over night on the street. Any vehicles left in the street or on any of the green spaces over night will be towed off at owners expense.
Don’t … go in… the out gate!!! HELLOOOOOO!!!
Do …Pick up your newsletter when the arm is up on the green mailbox, (now marked,) in the front of the subdivision
Don’t…. drive your boats too close to their docks/piers while skiing or fishing.
Do not let your dogs run loose !!! The covenants require dogs to be leashed (especially by the street), to protect children, bikers, and anyone not knowing the temperament of your animal.
**** If you encounter a repeat offender…call the Humane Society at 892-7387
Don’t… throw grass and leaves from your yard clean up into the lake as this pollutes the water (not to mention looks terrible) If someone else does your yard, let them know.
Do…cut your lot at least twice a month during the summer, to keep the rodents down. (LOT OWNERS)
Do… Enjoy your home in Lake Ramsey…(Most people have to go on vacation to experience what we have here on a daily basis) How blessed we are!!!
Key Pad Help…The key pad needs help…. it’s broken again, so … save this just in case it is up and running soon.
If you are expecting company when the gate is closed, give them your access number. This will help them to avoid the frustration of a foreign keypad. However if it is foreign to you, the next time you come in, stop at the keypad and access your name (by using the arrow, up or down, until you find it). There will be a number by your name. Give that number to your guests when they come to visit. All they need to do is punch in your number, nothing else. The phone will automatically call your home. And you, of course, will press 9 on your phone to let them in.
*NOTE…the call has to come through the keypad phone. Their cell phone will not access the gate even if they are right by the keypad phone.
Please drop off anything you would like to add to the Newsletter, written and ready to print, in the basket on Pat’s porch or email the information titled: Newsletter Info. To baheumann@charter.net by the 5th of the month.
