Lake Ramsey Google Group list rules
This list is open to only Lake Ramsey residents that are in good standing

How to post:

Trim your posts. When responding to someone else's post, please excerpt the relevant and shortened piece at the bottom of your response.

Use easy to read font without color.

DO NOT CLICK REPLY to a message and start another topic. Go to the group’s web page a start a new post.

Include your name, email address, and lot address in all posts and replies.

Use all caps wisely. In the internet world it means yelling or screaming.

What to post:
Please use this list to announce events in our community, to list items for sale or looking to buy, offer services or looking for services, to welcome new residents and offer helpful advice, or to plan subdivision events.

Please do not rant and rave about personal issues.

Although off topic issues are welcomed we ask that members avoid politics & religion, as these can be hot button issues. These issues as well as HOA issues will be monitored and you could be asked to take the discussion off list if things become heated or offensive.

Please do not post things you have not personally written. This includes articles of interest, religious text and posts from other lists. Instead, include a link where interested list members can find the article, the name and author of the text, or state that people can contact you directly to be sent the text directly. Please do not forward chain mail to this list.

If things get heated:
Foul or offensive language and name calling will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the list.

If you read someone's post and it feels attacking or hostile to you, try and imagine their post again in their shoes. Can you see them and their intentions differently? Where are you reacting from?

When writing posts, it may be helpful to wait on hitting the send button. Are you sure you are expressing yourself clearly? Imagine it from someone else's perspective. Do you want to open or close dialog? Are you trying to be hurtful? Take responsibility for what you write.

If you find someone's post hurtful or inappropriate, what should you do?:
One option is to let it go. Very often the person will recant or apologize unprompted when they read their own post.

Another option is to directly ask the person to clarify what they meant.
Except the part of their post you found problematic and without attacking them, let them know it concerned you and ask for clarification.

Should you decide to address someone's post onlist because you feel the dialog would benefit list members, then do so without attacking the person.

If you choose to send someone an off list e-mail be advised that flaming, attacking or threatening email will be cause for removal from our google group. Remember that people's inboxes are a step closer to their personal lives, and folks tend to be more sensitive about the tone of personal mail they receive.

Sometimes people vent here, please don't take offense. Keep replies constructive and general. Or don’t reply, a lack of response often means the thread dies anyway.

Portions of these rules are modified list rules from the elimination communication yahoo group written by the group’s list owner and moderators.
